Binocular Snapshot for 10/20/2015

LastDayWatcher understand

Trump wrote in the book released 19 months before 9/11: I really am convinced we’re in danger of the sort of terrorist attacks that will make the bombing of the Trade Center look like kids playing with firecrackers….No sensible analyst rejects this possibility, and plenty of them, like me, are not wondering if but when it will happen.
One day we’re told that a shadowy figure with no fixed address named Osama bin-Laden is public enemy number one, and U.S. jet fighters lay waste to his camp in Afghanistan….He escapes back under some rock, and a few news cycles later it’s on to a new enemy and new crisis.

Months before the deadly 9/11 terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, Donald Trump made a chillingly accurate prediction about a large-scale terror attack in his 2000 book “The America We Deserve.”

Jihadi hate groups including Islamic State (ISIS) and al-Qaeda have filled the power vacuum left behind by the US-led invasion and have set about persecuting and slaughtering Christian, since the brief invasion in 2003, Iraq's Christian population was decimated - plunging from a high of more than 2million in 2003 to just 180,000 today.

Canada’s Justin Trudeau leads a Liberal landslide in stunning election victory

Trudeau entered Canada’s federal election as the untested leader of the Liberals, still wounded from their worst electoral showing in 2011, when the center-left party won only 34 seats in Canada's 338-seat House of Commons.

On Tuesday morning, the Liberals woke up having captured 184 ridings, Canada's term for electoral districts — an astonishing gain of 150 seats — and a clear majority in Parliament.

For many here, the election was foremost a referendum on Mr. Harper and his Conservative Party’s near-decade in power.

His secretive and often partisan political style grated with many voters. And in pushing Canada to the right, Mr. Harper supported policies that many viewed as out of sync with the nation

Canadians are eager to see Trudeau return the country to its left-of-center traditions, he's vowed to repair ties with the United States, which were dogged by Harper's weak personal relationship with President Barack Obama and differences over the Keystone pipeline. Addressing climate change – an area where he shares common cause with Mr. Obama – is high on his agenda.

While critics say Trudeau lacks the political intelligence of his father, many Canadians say they are simply happy to have anyone but Harper as their leader.

Left-winger Jeremy Corbyn swept in as Britain's Labor Party leader
Veteran left-wing politician Jeremy Corbyn was elected leader of the Labor Party on Saturday in a landslide vote, casting a spotlight on deep ideological divisions in the once-dominant political organization, Corbyn, 66, who won nearly 60% of the votes in the four-candidate race, favors Britain's withdrawal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, nuclear disarmament and nationalization of the energy sector.

Corbyn has promised to take the party back to its roots, away from the more moderate times of the New Labor era of prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

Jeb Bush, meanwhile, is suffering a drop in his favorability ratings in the latest Monmouth University poll
In terms of favorability, most all the candidates remained steady, except for Bush. Just 37 percent saw the former governor in a positive light, while 44 percent had an unfavorable opinion of him. In the September poll, voters were split 41 percent favorable to 39 percent unfavorable, and in August, the numbers were higher, at 52 percent favorable to 30 percent unfavorable.
