IS militants have shot dead 25 people from the Albunimr tribe in the Sunni-stronghold province of Anbar in Iraq Saturday.
The killings in Sijariya, in apparent revenge for tribal opposition to ISIL, echoed the execution of hundreds of members of the Albu Nimr tribe last month by the group's fighters trying to break local resistance to their advances in Anbar.
The bodies of the men from the Albu Fahd tribe were discovered by the Iraqi army during its offensive to re-take Ramadi, the officials said.
The jihadists control almost all of Anbar, despite operations by the Iraqi army backed by air strikes from the US and its allies.

The first lesson this policy teaches Israelis is that it’s legitimate to inflict suffering on innocent people in order to discourage terrorism.
In other words, the logic of the policy is that it punishes people who don’t commit acts of terror.
Terrorists want to die, so they aren’t deterred. Israel targets their loved ones, who would suffer more
The second lesson the policy teaches is that it’s OK to treat Arab families this way, because Arabs in general are prone to violence.
