Hardliners in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party have backed the bill saying it “will keep illegals from our cities”.

One MP, Miri Regev, who was one of the advocates of the bill in the Knesset said that Israel “should send them all back to their countries”.

This leaves Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji with two bitter options, the best of which is the call to impose order and safeguard the state's prestige. In this case, he has to start the battle with the takfiris. But it will not be limited to those in North Lebanon.

But will he act? Will he be able to face other local and Saudi pressure, asking him to put a stop to Hezbollah's activities in Syria?

The blast at the Abu Idris shrine in Baquba, northeast of Baghdad in the province of Diyala, also wounded 19 people, violence in Iraq has reached a level this year not seen since 2008, when Iraq was just emerging from a period of brutal sectarian killings, it took just eight days for this month's death toll to surpass that for the entire month of December last year, according to AFP figures based on security and medical sources.
