Binocular Snapshot for 10/12/2011

LastDayWatchers you will see the propaganda  go into overdrive as

The U.S. disrupts an Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi ambassador

"The U.S. uncovered an alleged Iranian plot to kill Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States as well as bomb the Israeli Embassy in Washington and the Saudi and Israeli Embassies in Argentina."

"The central conundrum about Iran has always been whether it is a rational power, in the mold of Communist China, or a revolutionary one, along the lines of Napoleonic France or even Hitler's Germany,

If Iran proves to be a truly revolutionary power—and out of control—it may prove difficult for the United States to avoild open hostilities"

However be like the 300 by keeping your head up and on a shrivel to the truth

"The Quds Force are very good. They don't sit down with people they don't know and make a plot. They use proxies and they are professional about it."

Former CIA agent Robert Baer poured scorn on the reported Iranian conspiracy. "This stinks to holy hell," he told Britain's Guardian newspaper.

" It would be very hard to believe that senior Iranian officials condoned such an operation"

Just like the propaganda concerning the so-called "success of the surge"

Suicide bombers, attacks hit Baghdad police, 28 dead

"The string of apparently coordinated assaults heightened worries about the ability of Iraq's security forces to contain a stubborn insurgency, despite a drop in violence as the last U.S. troops prepare to withdraw by the end of this year.

One bomber rammed an explosives-filled vehicle into a police station in central Alwiya district, killing 14 including 8 police and wounding 28, and another blew up his car at a police building in northwestern Hurriya, killing 8 people and wounding 27, police and hospitals said.

"A car approached and... the driver smashed through the checkpoint and exploded the car when he hit a concrete barrier," Police Lt. Nadeer Adel told Reuters. "Smoke was everywhere, we all took cover. Minutes later we found a crater and some of our police were dead."

-"The scene was horrific," said Salim Ghadban, who was having breakfast when he heard a loud explosion, "We saw terrified people, some injured, running in our direction, and we rushed to the attacked police station and saw burned bodies and charred cars," he said. "We helped cover the burned bodies until the ambulances arrived."

At a nearby hospital where the victims were taken, Hardan Salah sat with a friend, two shrapnel wounds to his back and X-rays of his injuries laying on the bed nearby. "

As of Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at least 4,477 members of the U.S. military had died in the Iraq war

Since the start of U.S. military operations in Iraq, 32,209 U.S. service members have been wounded in hostile action, according to the Defense Department's weekly tally.

The latest identifications reported by the military:

Blast kills 6 Afghan police, tribal elder

Local officials say a roadside bomb explosion has killed six police officers and a local tribal elder in Afghanistan's troubled southern province of Kandahar.

The incident took place in Zhari district of the province on Tuesday after a police vehicle struck a roadside bomb, the Associated Press reported.

Roadside bombs and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are by far the most lethal weapon Taliban militants use against Afghan forces, foreign troops, and civilians.

A United Nations report said on September 28 that Afghanistan saw a near 40 percent rise in the monthly average number of security incidents recorded for the year through the end of August, the report also said civilian casualties, already at record levels in the first six months of the year, rose 5 percent for the period from June to August compared with the same months of 2010."
